Looking Back at the Dutch Blockchain Week Summit 2026

The Dutch Blockchain Week Summit 2026 brought the digital asset industry together at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam on June 24 and 25. For two days, professionals from digital assets, banking, payments, investment, regulation, infrastructure and technology came together for high-level content, breakout sessions, business meetings and networking. Looking back several months later, the Summit represented an important step in the development of Dutch Blockchain Week and reflected how much the wider digital asset industry itself has evolved.

Moving the Main Summit to the Johan Cruijff ArenA gave us the opportunity to create an event that went beyond a traditional conference setup. Alongside the Main Stage programme, attendees could join breakout sessions, meet companies and partners, use dedicated networking areas and continue conversations throughout the venue. The objective was not simply to fill a programme with speakers, but to create an environment where different parts of the industry could actually meet each other.

Dutch Blockchain Week Summit 2026 brought different industries together

One of the clearest developments at the Dutch Blockchain Week Summit 2026 was the increasingly diverse mix of organisations and professionals represented. Crypto-native companies and exchanges were joined by banks, payment providers, institutional investors, regulators, policymakers, professional service providers, infrastructure companies and global technology businesses. DBW26 was designed specifically around that increasingly professional and institutional ecosystem. Dutch Blockchain Week

This convergence is important because digital assets are no longer developing separately from the wider financial system. Payments, stablecoins, tokenization, custody, trading infrastructure and regulation increasingly connect traditional financial institutions with companies that were originally built within the crypto industry. Bringing those different perspectives together was therefore an important part of the Main Summit.

Rather than positioning blockchain as a standalone industry, the programme reflected the growing overlap between digital assets, financial services, technology and regulation. That created conversations between organisations that may approach the market from very different starting points, but increasingly find themselves working on the same questions.

Two days of conversations shaping digital assets

Across the two Summit days, the program covered many of the subjects currently shaping the industry, including institutional adoption, stablecoins, payments, tokenization, trading, regulation, AI, infrastructure and the continued professionalisation of digital asset markets.

The first day, for example, opened with a discussion about how banks, asset managers and financial institutions are integrating crypto into existing market structures. Later sessions explored prediction markets, quantum computing and regulation, while the second day included discussions around digital asset trading, developer liability and privacy, stablecoins, AI agents and decentralized infrastructure.

That breadth was intentional. The digital asset ecosystem has become too broad for every attendee to be interested in exactly the same subjects. By combining financial, regulatory and technological discussions, the programme allowed professionals from different parts of the market to find relevant content while still being exposed to developments elsewhere in the industry.

Bringing different perspectives to the Main Stage

The Main Stage brought together founders, executives, policymakers, regulators and industry experts from across the ecosystem. One of the highlights was a fireside chat with Charlie Lee, creator of Litecoin and Director of the Litecoin Foundation, reflecting on more than a decade of building in the industry and how he views its development today.

Other sessions brought together representatives from organisations including Visa, Chainlink, Bitwise, bunq, Talos, Cointelegraph, Bybit EU, zerohash europe and many others. The programme also included regulatory perspectives, such as a session on MiCAR supervision with the AFM and an international perspective from Juan Carlos Reyes, President of El Salvador’s National Commission of Digital Assets.

What made the programme particularly interesting was the combination of those different backgrounds. Someone approaching digital assets from banking or payments may see the market differently from an exchange, regulator, blockchain infrastructure company or crypto-native founder. Putting those perspectives together creates more useful discussions than having every part of the ecosystem speaking only to itself.

Going deeper through breakout sessions

The Main Stage was only one part of the content programme. Throughout both days, dedicated breakout sessions gave attendees the opportunity to explore specific subjects in smaller settings and gave participating companies the space to share their expertise in more depth.

Companies including Visa, Mastercard, Deloitte, PwC, Fireblocks, Bitvavo, OVHcloud, zerohash europe, Watsonlaw, Bird & Bird and Talos participated in the breakout programme. Topics ranged from stablecoins and payments to regulation, custody, infrastructure and institutional digital assets.

For us, these sessions are an important part of the Main Summit. A large stage works well for discussing broader industry developments, while a smaller room makes it possible to explore practical use cases and specialist subjects in greater detail. It also allows partners to contribute through expertise and knowledge rather than relying solely on traditional brand visibility.

A Summit designed around networking

While the programme brought people to the Johan Cruijff ArenA, much of the value of the Dutch Blockchain Week Summit 2026 came from what happened between the sessions. Throughout both days, attendees moved between the stages, partner areas, breakout rooms and dedicated networking spaces, creating opportunities to continue discussions or arrange meetings away from the main programme.

That was an important consideration in how the Summit was structured. For many professionals attending a B2B event, hearing from a relevant speaker may be valuable, but meeting a future client, business partner or investor can be equally important. We therefore wanted networking to be part of the event itself rather than something limited to a few scheduled breaks.

The Johan Cruijff ArenA also gave us the opportunity to create experiences outside the regular conference programme. Stadium tours, partner activations and dedicated hospitality areas gave attendees additional reasons to move around the venue and connect in different settings.

Partners as part of the Dutch Blockchain Week Summit

Our partners played an important role in making the Main Summit possible. Companies from across exchanges, banking, payments, infrastructure, professional services, legal, investment and technology contributed to the event through content, activations, breakout sessions and their own teams and networks.

That is an important part of how we want partnerships at Dutch Blockchain Week to work. A partner should not simply be a logo on a sponsor wall. The strongest partnerships create opportunities for companies to participate in the programme, demonstrate expertise, meet relevant professionals and create experiences that attendees actually remember.

DBW26 showed how much more valuable that can be when different parts of the industry participate together. The result was an event where traditional finance, digital assets, payments, regulation and technology were not presented as separate worlds, but as increasingly connected parts of the same ecosystem.

Looking ahead to the next Main Summit

Several months later, the Dutch Blockchain Week Summit 2026 remains an important milestone in the development of DBW. Moving to the Johan Cruijff ArenA allowed us to expand the event, welcome a broader professional audience and create more opportunities for content, networking and partnerships.

It also gave us a strong foundation for what comes next.

Dutch Blockchain Week returns to Amsterdam from May 17–23, 2027, with the Main Summit taking place on May 19 & 20. We will continue building on the format established in 2026, bringing together the companies, institutions and professionals shaping the future of digital assets.

The goal remains the same: create the environment where the industry’s most relevant conversations can take place and where the people behind those conversations can actually meet.
