Dutch Blockchain Week 2026 was about much more than two days at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Throughout an entire week, the digital asset, blockchain and Web3 industry came together across Amsterdam for the Main Summit, VIP Night, Litecoin Summit, Padel, more than 40 side events, partner gatherings and the Official Afterparty.
Looking back several months later, some of the moments we remember most didn’t happen on a stage. They happened over dinner, during a game of padel, at one of the many side events, over drinks before the Main Summit or during a casual conversation that continued throughout the rest of the week. These moments have become an important part of what Dutch Blockchain Week is all about. DBW isn’t designed to be just another two-day conference; the goal is to bring an entire industry together in Amsterdam and create different opportunities for people to meet throughout the week.
The Main Summit at the Johan Cruijff ArenA formed the heart of Dutch Blockchain Week 2026, but everything surrounding it created an experience that went far beyond a traditional conference.
Dutch Blockchain Week 2026 started before the Main Summit
Dutch Blockchain Week was already in full swing before the doors of the Main Summit opened on Wednesday morning. The Litecoin Summit took place on Monday and Tuesday, bringing an international community to Amsterdam and adding another major event to the programme. At the same time, the first side events and private gatherings were taking place throughout the city, meaning that many attendees had already spent several days meeting people before arriving at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
On Tuesday evening, we hosted the official DBW VIP Night for a selected group of partners, speakers, VIP guests and senior industry professionals. The idea behind the evening was to create an environment where people could spend proper time together before the busy Main Summit began. With drinks, food and plenty of opportunity to network, the evening offered a very different experience from the conference floor and gave guests the chance to make their first introductions in a more relaxed setting.
For us, that is exactly why an evening like the VIP Night is valuable. Large conferences create enormous opportunities to meet people, but they can also be busy. Bringing a smaller group together beforehand gives people time to have longer conversations and establish relationships that can continue throughout the rest of the week. Many of the people who met on Tuesday evening would see each other again during the Main Summit, in the VIP Lounge, during meetings or at other events around Amsterdam.
Taking networking beyond the conference floor
Another important part of Dutch Blockchain Week 2026 was creating opportunities to connect outside the traditional conference environment. One of the best examples was DBW Padel. Instead of meeting around a table or standing next to a booth, participants spent time together on and around the court, combining friendly competition with networking.
Padel may seem completely different from a conference session, but that is precisely why it works. Not every valuable business relationship starts with a scheduled meeting, and people often connect differently when they step outside their usual professional environment. Bringing founders, executives, partners and other industry professionals together through sport creates a more informal dynamic and can lead to conversations that might never have happened on the conference floor.
This has become an increasingly important part of how we think about Dutch Blockchain Week. The Main Summit provides the scale, content and central meeting point, while the activities around it provide smaller and more informal environments where relationships can develop in a different way.
More than 40 events across Amsterdam
The wider side-event programme was another defining part of Dutch Blockchain Week 2026. More than 40 events took place throughout the week, organised by companies, communities and organisations from across the ecosystem. These ranged from drinks and networking gatherings to private dinners, specialist sessions and other industry events, giving attendees the opportunity to build their own programme around the Main Summit.
This decentralised model has always been an important part of Dutch Blockchain Week. Rather than trying to organise every conversation ourselves, we want to provide a platform that allows the wider ecosystem to become part of the week. Companies can invite their own clients and communities, focus on specific topics or audiences and create their own experience while benefiting from the fact that so much of the industry is already in Amsterdam.
For attendees, that creates a very different experience from travelling to a standalone conference. Someone can attend the Main Summit during the day, join a partner event afterwards, have dinner with clients and finish the evening at another side event. The following morning, many of those same people come together again at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Over the course of a full week, those repeated encounters create stronger connections than a single meeting often can.
Inside the Johan Cruijff ArenA
Even during the two Main Summit days, networking wasn’t limited to coffee breaks between stage sessions. The Johan Cruijff ArenA allowed us to create different environments throughout the venue, including partner areas, breakout rooms, networking spaces and the VIP Lounge. Attendees could move between content and meetings throughout the day instead of following one fixed conference programme.
Partners also played an important role in creating experiences around the Summit. Breakout sessions gave companies the opportunity to go deeper into specific topics, while activations throughout the venue added another dimension to the event. The ArenA Tours, for example, gave attendees the opportunity to experience more of the stadium while continuing to meet people away from the main conference areas.
This variety was intentional. Some attendees came to DBW primarily for the content, others to meet potential clients, investors or partners, and many came for a combination of both. By creating different environments throughout the venue and the wider week, people could experience DBW in the way that was most valuable to them.
Ending Dutch Blockchain Week 2026 together
After two full days at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, the Official Afterparty brought attendees, partners and speakers together one more time. By that point, many people had already spent several days meeting each other across Amsterdam, so the atmosphere was naturally very different from the beginning of the week. Introductions had turned into familiar faces, scheduled meetings had developed into longer conversations and new relationships had already started to form.
That is also why the Afterparty is more than simply a celebration at the end of the conference. It provides another opportunity for people to reconnect without a packed agenda or another meeting waiting fifteen minutes later. After two intensive Summit days, attendees finally had time to continue conversations in a more relaxed setting and celebrate the week together.
One week, many different ways to connect
Looking back at Dutch Blockchain Week 2026, it is the combination of all these different moments that made the edition special. The Main Summit gave the week its centre, while the VIP Night, Litecoin Summit, Padel, side events, partner gatherings and Afterparty expanded the experience far beyond the conference itself. Together, they created multiple opportunities for the same ecosystem to meet in different settings throughout Amsterdam.
That is ultimately what we want Dutch Blockchain Week to be. We believe an industry benefits when people don’t just listen to each other on stage, but have the time and opportunity to actually meet, exchange ideas and build relationships. Sometimes that happens during a scheduled business meeting at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, and sometimes it happens unexpectedly over dinner, on a padel court or at an event somewhere else in Amsterdam.
Several months after DBW26, that is one of the things we are most proud of. Thousands of individual conversations took place throughout the week, and many of those connections continued long after everyone went home.
In 2027, we will bring the ecosystem together again. Dutch Blockchain Week returns to Amsterdam from May 17–23, 2027, with the Main Summit taking place on May 19 & 20. Once again, the Main Summit will form the heart of the programme, surrounded by a full week of events, experiences and opportunities to connect.
